Projects Completed

1. International woman’s day 2019

ACT (Ex Gloriot) co-sponsored with Marlbo Trading Organized a gathering on account of International Women’s Day 2019 and many participated at this event including female workers of Colombo Municipal Council working in Kollupitiya area. At the end of the program, gifts were presented to all those who participated as a token of appreciation. Superintendent of Police Lanka Amarasena (Director-Child and women’s Bureau of Srilanka police) and former deputy General Manager International Banking Division of the People’s Bank Shobani Prathapasinghe also participated.

2. Donated a Desktop computer

A Desktop computer and accessories donated to CP/W/Vigneshwara TMV, Panwila on 22.05.2019. following the request from the Principal of this Public school.  It’s been a long dream for the school management to set up a Computer station to maintain the database of the students and for other clerical work, but the authorities and well-wishers ignored this plea to this remotely located school. This was brought to the attention of the ACT Coordinator during his visit to Srilanka. Following the Approval from the ACT Executive committee a Computer and accessories worth SLR 120,000 handed over to the Principal by the ACT Co-ordinator Mr. Mangalraj.

3. Donated laptop to a student entering University

ACT Volunteer coordinator Ms.Sakunthaladevi (Maskeliya, Srilanka) contacted Mr. Mangalraj (ACT-Coordinator) during his visit to Srilanka.  She requested to help a student entering to the Kelaniya University.  This male student hails from a poverty-driven village in the Central Province who got the entrance to the University of Kelaniya, His family could not afford or support all his needs due to financial problems.  (We are not disclosing the name/identity of the student due to privacy issues) ACT helped him by donating a Laptop Computer in June 2019 to pursue his higher studies.

4.  Covid-19 Support for Plantation sector.

ACT team helped to collect Covid-19 funds in collaboration with a Srilankan body using Go fund me site. This “Go fund me” drive has helped more than 1500 families in the Plantation sector & Rural areas

5.  Students Education Assistance Project

ACT provided financial assistance to 20 Students to help pay for their studies at Bharathi Vidyalayam, Viswamadu, Sri Lanka. The School Principal recommended the students based on their financial need. The funds were distributed in the month of Oct 2020 with the help of the Ramakrishna Mission, Sri Lanka. The financial support for this project was provided by Raj and Gayathri Shunmugarajah in memory of their fathers, Late Mr. D. Shunmugarajah and Late Mr. K. Nagalingam.
